The Early Years |
Scruffy began his journey as a Great Highland Piper at the age of 15 under the direction of Pipe Major Robert Henderson, with the Calgary Highlanders. His first major performance came in 1989 in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Metro center military tattoo. This would be the first step in a long line of Bagpiping accomplishments.
During his time in the Military, he had the honor of piping for many distinguished people including Queen Elizabeth II, the Commander of the UN (while serving in the Former Yugoslavia 1992-1993) and the Prime Minister of Canada. Scruffy has toured most of the world as a part of a Boston based Irish rock band, playing Bagpipes and Tin Whistles (Dropkick Murphys). |
Modern Day Scruffy |
Scruffy has built a unique offering from the foundation of traditional highland Bagpiping and the adaptation of his craft into the modern day. This allows him to perform not only traditional venues like weddings and funerals, but because of his versatility and ability, he could be set into many different projects and events.
Because he is a veteran himself, Josh has an unparalleled dedication to the servicemen and women of this country. He has attended and played for countless ceremonies and funerals across the country, and imbedded himself in various Veteran support charities like #22 Kill, an organization that creates awareness about Veteran suicide and mental health issues. These actions are what solidifies his ongoing commitment to his brothers and sisters, past, present and future. You can trust that Scruffy's ability to handle any situation with class and respect makes having him at your event not only a welcomed addition, but an enhancement to make the memory last. |
